What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Analyst (Non - IT) position at magnit-xcelenergy?
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced SAP S/4HANA subject matter expert to support a large-scale Greenfield SAP implementation within the utility industry. This contractor role is central to the success of a complex, multi-vendor transformation initiative, requiring deep hands-on expertise in the FICA module and a proven track record of delivering results across full-cycle SAP implementations. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted advisor, bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical implementation teams — reviewing design artifacts, guiding configuration decisions, and driving process standardization and redesign. This is a primarily remote, full-time engagement with approximately 25% travel to corporate headquarters locations as project phases demand. Success in this role requires not only deep technical knowledge but also the ability to operate effectively across multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Provide subject matter expertise for SAP S/4HANA with a focus on the FICA module throughout all phases of a Greenfield implementation
Review and deliver recommendations on key design artifacts, technical artifacts, and business process designs
Support configuration of billing and invoicing processes within SAP
Help standardize and redesign business processes in alignment with Greenfield implementation objectives
Attend regular stand-up meetings and actively participate in on-site and remote workshops
Complete follow-up work, reviews, and deliverables stemming from workshop sessions
Collaborate closely with internal business counterparts, system integrators, and cross-functional teams across multiple workstreams
Respond to SAP-related questions and provide guidance as the team progresses through implementation phases
Analyze non-IT business problems and articulate requirements to support process improvement opportunities
Prepare documentation of current and desired state processes and develop requirements that build shared understanding between process owners and solution developers
Assess process performance and create frameworks for evaluating financial payback and ROI for proposed investments
Identify alternative solutions and provide well-reasoned recommendations to stakeholders
Skills
Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA, with specialization in the FICA module (required)
Hands-on experience configuring billing and invoicing processes within SAP
Strong understanding of utility industry business processes and operational context
Demonstrated ability to review and provide actionable feedback on design and technical artifacts
Experience supporting process standardization and redesign within large-scale transformation programs
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multi-vendor, cross-functional environment
Effective communication skills with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders
Ability to manage and deliver across multiple workstreams simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare ROI statements and process documentation
Analytical mindset with experience assessing process performance and identifying improvement opportunities
ABAP development experience (preferred)
Experience working both client-side and with system integrators (preferred)
Experience
10 or more years of relevant SAP implementation experience
Completion of at least two full SAP implementation projects (Greenfield and/or Brownfield)
Primary background in SAP implementation work rather than sustainment or support roles
Demonstrated experience working within the utility industry
Experience contributing to enterprise transformation initiatives and Greenfield SAP programs
Prior experience working in multi-vendor, cross-functional project environments
Qualifications
SAP Activate Certification (preferred)
SAP FICA certification (preferred)
Additional SAP module certifications (preferred)

With the flexibility of a primarily remote engagement, exposure to a complex Greenfield implementation, and the chance to influence critical design and configuration decisions, this role offers both professional challenge and significant impact for the right candidate.
