Magnetic Instrumentation is a technical leader in the growing US magnetics industry, providing high-energy electromagnetic equipment and magnetic measurement equipment to OEMs in several industries.
We are seeking an energetic and reliable mechanical/electrical technician with proven experience in assembly and construction of industrial equipment. Hands-on mechanical and/or electrical skills are required, and the ideal candidate will have a good background in assembly. We value solution-oriented and motivated professionals who will appreciate working as a key part of an innovative and technically proficient team.
Qualifying backgrounds could include small engine repair, motor or generator repair, trade work, or machine maintenance. If you like to work on items using hand tools, you might be a good candidate. We are looking for a skilled technician with leadership skills who can lead a group of similarly skilled co-workers.
Key Responsibilities
Management or supervisor experience is a plus
Oversee the daily operations of the Coil Winding department. This includes direct supervision, technical assistance, and the knowledge of all types of magnetizing fixtures.
Duties include, the ability to teach, soldering, winding (hand & machine), blueprint reading, mechanical assembly, and time management as well as other tasks associated with the job.
You must be able to report the status and delivery of fixtures to engineering and management. Attend weekly meetings to help establish delivery of completed fixtures. Must be able to redirect the flow internally and externally as company and customer’s needs change.
Interaction with customers to facilitate repair, cost and delivery of new and repair fixtures. Work with engineering and sales to establish cost and delivery for repeat and new fixtures. Interaction with engineering to work through design, material, and craftsmanship issues.
It is also the responsibility of the Coil Shop Supervisor to interview, supervise and train the personnel associated with the Coil Shop.
It is essential to have a complete knowledge of all magnetizing fixtures as well as the techniques to manufacture them. Should have a strong background mechanically and be capable of winding and assembling our products.
Blueprint reading, soldering, computer skills, math, mechanical aptitude are all required. The ability to teach these skills are the key to getting the Coil Winding Department back to where it should be.

- 5 years of experience as a mechanical technician or similar role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial equipment.
- Proficient in hand/power tools.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or field service setting.
