Job description
Magna Surgical Center, one of the Midwest’s leading outpatient surgical centers, is seeking a Customer Service Assistant/ Receptionist with strong communication skills interested in working in healthcare as a primary liaison to patients and other customers. Motivated service-oriented candidates with experience in healthcare, hospitality, retail, and other customer-facing roles will be strongly considered.

Essential Duties:
- Welcoming patients and other customers and acting as a resource to enhance their experience at the Center whether in person or on the phone.
- Maintain a clean professional and welcoming atmosphere in the reception area.
- Assists in admitting patients in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner according to policy and procedure.
- Administrative duties such as working with patient charts, assisting with scheduling of patients, collecting payments, and answering incoming phone calls
- Gathers and updates accurately financial, insurance, and personal demographic information.
- Collects self-pay portions and deductibles of bills, and records in manner.
- Liaison with other departments and physicians to communicate patient updates and status.
- Work closely with the clinical department to ensure patient charts are created and completed in a timely manner.
- Schedules surgical procedures independently and with the collaboration of the Assistant Administrator and Medical Director.
- Protect patient confidentially by ensuring health information is secure at all times.
- Updates and maintains medical records and filing.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of computer systems.
- Inventory and restock medical office supplies
- Responsible for other duties as assigned.
- Bilingual is a plus
Experience:
High School graduate or equivalent and 1-2 years of related experience.
Current CPR Certificate. Medical Assist Certification (preferred)
