Works within the systems engineering team with the Advanced Systems Engineering team and the Noise, Vibration and Harmonics team, assisting with projects on all different levels throughout the co-op program. Tasks include supporting mechanical/electrical/controls design, industry research, prototype acquisition/assembly, and testing. Position is expected to include hands on learning experience in the lab.
Team Summary:
The Systems Engineering Team is responsible for providing engineering solutions in powertrain systems. This group is responsible for the design, development and realization of innovative, robust and leading-edge solutions for high volume powertrain applications.
**Full time - Co-op
Key Responsibilities:
- Help create new and advanced powertrain and driveline technology through supporting lead engineers in their projects.
- Work with other design and testing departments, guiding and collaborating with functional organization for technology/product concept development.
- Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Supports Systems Engineering by assessing and analyzing NVH performance of MPT driveline products.
- Assist with the use of NVH instrumentation, hardware and software.
- Work with the team to improve NVH development methods and the integration into existing/emerging engineering development processes.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
- Exposure to systems engineering executed at a high level on powertrain systems
- Test setup and execution
- Problem-solving skills and experience working with a team
- Fundamental understanding of powertrain products noise and vibration performance (traditional and electrified).
- Practical experience in setting up, measuring, and analyzing data in noise and vibrations tests.
- Understanding of how product noise and vibration performance affects vehicle quality.
- Experience reporting technical data in written reports, presentations, electronic media and talking in front of an engineering audience.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Knowledge in computer-based software, including 3D CAD, strong organizational/communication skills, ability to work with others in a team environment
- Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
- Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design
