Position Overview:
The Elementary Innovation Lab Teacher fosters creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving through hands-on, project-based learning. This role provides students with opportunities to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), coding, and programming while engaging in innovative, real-world learning experiences in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging, hands-on lessons that integrate STEM, coding, programming, and creative problem-solving
- Teach foundational coding and programming concepts using age-appropriate platforms (e.g., block-based coding, introductory robotics)
- Facilitate project-based learning experiences that encourage inquiry, exploration, and innovation
- Guide students in using tools and materials such as robotics kits, coding platforms, building materials, and digital applications
- Promote collaboration, communication, and teamwork among students
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive lab environment
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate innovation, coding, and STEM concepts into core subjects
- Assess student learning through projects, presentations, and performance-based tasks
- Encourage a growth mindset, perseverance, and creativity in students
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM field, Computer Science, or related area
- Valid teaching certification (Elementary Education preferred)
- Experience with STEM instruction, coding, programming, maker spaces, or project-based learning
- Familiarity with coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, Blockly) and/or robotics programs
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
