Principal - Energy Transition Credit

We are partnering with a leading global alternative investment manager with over $700bn in AUM to recruit a Principal to join its Tax-Linked Investments / Energy Transition platform. This individual will play a central role on the deal team, leading the structuring and execution of investments tied to tax credits and other incentive-driven strategies across the energy transition landscape.

This is a highly visible role offering direct exposure to complex transactions, senior investment professionals, and investment committee processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structuring, underwriting, and execution of tax-linked investments, including tax equity, transferable tax credits, and other incentive-based transactions
• Partner closely with internal investment teams, legal, tax, and external counterparties to originate and execute transactions
• Evaluate and underwrite investments across renewable energy, clean infrastructure, and broader energy transition assets
• Prepare and present investment materials to senior stakeholders and investment committees
• Manage deal processes from origination through closing, including diligence, documentation, and negotiations
• Support portfolio management and ongoing asset monitoring post-close
• Act as a mentor to junior team members and contribute to the continued build-out of the platform

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience in investing, structured finance, or project finance
• Demonstrated experience structuring and executing transactions involving energy transition credit, tax equity, transferable tax credits, and/or other tax incentives
• Strong technical skills with the ability to analyze complex structures and risks
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deal-oriented investment environment
• Comfortable interfacing with senior investment professionals and presenting to IC-level audiences
• Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree a plus
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, New York
