Overview
A leading global investment firm is seeking a Regulatory Reporting Specialist to join its Legal & Compliance team in New York.
This is a senior-level role focused on U.S. beneficial ownership reporting and disclosure obligations. The position requires strong interpretive judgment, deep subject matter expertise, and the ability to operate independently within a complex trading environment.
The individual will assume meaningful ownership of the reporting function and serve as a subject matter expert across legal, compliance, front office, operations, and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute U.S. beneficial ownership filings, including Schedule 13D, 13G, Form 13F, and Section 16 filings (Forms 3, 4, 5)
- Monitor ownership thresholds and assess disclosure triggers across equities, derivatives, and structured positions
- Analyze aggregation rules and determine disclosure obligations under U.S. regulatory regimes
- Interpret structured and synthetic exposure positions for reporting implications
- Strengthen reporting workflows, governance frameworks, and documentation standards
- Coordinate cross-functionally to address complex disclosure and threshold questions
- Monitor regulatory developments and refine internal reporting protocols
- Improve defensibility of regulatory interpretations and internal controls
- Field technical questions from internal and offshore support teams
Qualifications
- 6–10 years of experience in regulatory reporting, compliance, or related legal function within financial services
- Deep expertise in U.S. beneficial ownership reporting required
- Experience within a complex trading environment strongly preferred
- Ability to independently interpret ownership regulations and disclosure thresholds
- Experience advising on reporting frameworks, not solely processing filings
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD considered but not required
- Exposure to non-U.S. ownership regimes (EU, UK, APAC) is a plus
