Employees in PRN positions are expected to maintain the required level of availability and work the minimum shifts/hours outlined by the department to remain in PRN status. Scheduling needs may vary, and available shifts are not guaranteed.
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs professional nursing services utilizing the nursing process including, but not limited to, assessing needs; developing and implementing nursing care plans; evaluating patient response to treatment; documenting patient interactions in accordance with professional nursing standards and Hospital policies; and providing direction for non-professional care givers.
This position is PRN - as needed
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/certification:
Current RN license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa. If a new graduate, must pass boards within 6 months of employment as an RN.
Certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Life Support, or successful completion of ACLS and PALS courses within six months of hire.
Previous Work Experience:
Previous experience in an acute care facility preferred.
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English with people from diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds both orally and in writing. Ability to read and understand/follow written and verbal directions. Must be able to direct the work of others while personally handling multiple tasks in a variety of situations. Requires organizational and self-motivational skills in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks. Must demonstrate ability to utilize effective decision-making and problem solving techniques. Ability to work independently and interdependently with the health care team and community resources. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations and focused amid interruptions in a potentially fast-paced environment.
