What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Facility Attendant/Security position at Madison County Commission?
This is routine work in supervising the operations of the Courthouse parking facilities. Employees in this class are responsible for preventing unauthorized persons from parking automobiles in the parking facilities provided for designated personnel at the County Courthouse. Some independent discretion is involved in dealing with problems at the source or in reporting them to the proper authorities. Work involves responsibility for maintaining security measures over county facilities and preventing thefts from automobiles that have been parked. This person in this position frequently communicates in person and on the telephone with Elected Officials, contractors, employees, and the general public. Supervision is received through daily instructions from the Facilities Director.
The work schedule for this position is
Sunday: 3pm - 11pm
Sunday: 3pm - 11pm
Monday - Thursday: 11pm - 7am
(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)- Guards the entrance gate of the Courthouse basement to control traffic to and from the building.
- Allows entrance of authorized personnel and prevents the entrance of unauthorized personnel.
- Maintains a sharp lookout to prevent thefts from parked vehicles.
- Drives and properly parks automobiles when requested to do so.
- Provides fast, efficient, and courteous service to customers.
- Performs related work as directed and required.
- Sweep and/or pick up trash in & around the garage/parking area as needed.
- The position requires any combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of any level of primary or secondary education that did not result in the awarding of a high school diploma or an equivalency diploma.
- Some experience in parking automobiles.
- Some knowledge of the proper procedures of operating a parking facility.
- Ability to operate a vehicle in a safe and proper manner.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with officials, other employees, and the general public.
Physical Requirements
- The employee consistently operates gate control.
- The person in this position needs to move about inside and outside the building.
- Must be able to observe their surroundings and be able to traverse to other office locations.
- Must be able to see well enough to operate an automobile, and to recognize vehicles and pedestrians approaching the garage.
Certifications or Licenses Required
- Must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
