Duties

• Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles along designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations
• Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness before each shift
• Assist children boarding and exiting the bus, ensuring proper behavior management and child safety protocols are followed
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and dispatchers using clear English or multilingual skills when needed
• Maintain accurate logs of routes, student counts, and any incidents that occur during shifts
• Respond promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations with calmness and professionalism
• Uphold customer service standards by providing friendly assistance and fostering a welcoming environment for students and parents

Skills

• Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving with a valid driver’s license suitable for operating large vehicles
• Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities
• Knowledge of driving safety procedures, traffic laws, and vehicle mechanical basics
• Experience working with children or in childcare settings; ability to manage student behavior effectively
• Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with students, parents, and school staff
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly while following established safety protocols
• Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle maintenance checks; familiarity with paratransit or senior care transportation is advantageous

Pay: $24.09 - $34.85 per hour
