Qualifications:
- High School diploma required; some college preferred
- Working knowledge of general office software including Microsoft Word
- Excellent grammatical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives, Attendance, and Community Relations
Background Check Required: (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than 10 years old.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to deal with the public in all situations in a pleasant, courteous and helpful manner.
- Ability to utilize good telephone skills.
- Ability to use excellent business English, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word; knowledge of Excel and Access is a plus.
- Ability to communicate via E-mail efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to organize and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Capable of moving and lifting moderately heavy weights.
- Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, and refers to appropriate area.
- Answers office telephone and responds appropriately to requests for information.
- Registers students new to Madison City Schools
- Maintains reception area to accommodate visitors.
- Receives both system and post office mail, packages, and faxes, sorts and distributes to appropriate areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
- Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
Expected Employment: 240 days/ 8 hrs. (full year)
Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
Salary Range: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
