Looking to help a growing, vibrant nonprofit get things done? Madison Cat Project is looking for a Development & Communications Coordinator to join our team.

The Development & Communications Coordinator will support the Executive Director in identifying, creating, implementing and managing revenue generating opportunities and donor relation activities as well as maintaining and analyzing donor database. This position will also have the exciting opportunity to advance Madison Cat Project’s position in the digital media market by expanding and enhancing MCP’s social media channels.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow MCP social media channels- increasing traffic and audience participation.
  • Coordinate design, segmentation and distribution of online communications including fundraising, newsletters, event and general information e-blasts.
  • Assist in the management of the MCP website.
  • Assist with internal/external digital and print collateral related to marketing campaigns, creative projects and content creation.
  • Work with ED to analyze data for donation trends and identify opportunities through segmentation, assist with developing donation strategies in response to findings.
  • Process donations into the donor database and send donor acknowledgements.
  • Financial data entry, including entering, updating, and verifying information across internal systems.
  • Responsible for ordering, processing sales, maintaining inventory of MCP merchandise.
  • Plan, organize, manage and oversee special events and in person/ online fundraisers, including securing event sponsors, vendors, timelines, logistics and execution. Take lead role in designing and coordinating events.
  • Assist ED with financial organization and related activities.
  • Help promote fundraising activities and solicit support of MCP overall.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive matters related to MCP.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Must have the ability to multitask, meet deadlines and stay organized. Exemplary communication and people skills are a must. This position requires the ability to work independently while functioning in a team environment with a positive and professional demeanor. Able to use sound judgment when dealing with confidential information. This position requires a self-starter with strong interpersonal and writing skills.

This is a full time position requiring 40 hours per week. The average work week is Monday- Friday however flexibility is required to cover weekend and evening events or other MCP activities. Some remote work is permitted.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Excellent public relation skills and the ability to form professional relationships.
  • Should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Confident computer skills and experience with MS Office, Excel, and Google Office, Canva, databases and social media.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Goal oriented self-starter.
  • Must be willing to work both independently and as a team.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record or access to reliable transportation.

General Qualifications:

  • Must have a passion for animals and support the mission of the Madison Cat Project.
  • Ability to work with animals in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Additional qualifications that would benefit this position: Previous experience in fundraising/ development. Previous experience in non-profit work and/or animal welfare. Previous sales and/ or marketing experience.
