Director of Marketing
Location: Madison, WI
The Madison Area Builders Association is seeking a strategic and creative Director of Marketing to lead all marketing initiatives that support membership growth, event visibility, and revenue generation. This role is ideal for a hands-on, self-motivated professional who thrives in a small team environment and wants to make a large impact on high-profile events like the Parade of Homes and projects with community partners.
The Director of Marketing oversees digital marketing, social media, the Right Angle magazine, e-newsletters, website updates, branding, and event marketing. This position does not supervise staff but collaborates closely with volunteers, members, and vendors. Some nights and weekends are required during events, with flexible scheduling and remote work options available.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing – 75%
- Develop and execute the organization’s comprehensive marketing strategy.
- Lead all aspects of the Right Angle magazine, including ad sales, vendor management, design, content, and production (7 issues/year).
- Manage all digital and print marketing channels (Facebook, Instagram, email, mailers, blog, etc.).
- Partner with staff and volunteers to grow association membership.
- Create marketing materials and campaigns that support organizational goals.
- Expand social media presence and develop new channels.
- Maintain and update association websites.
Parade of Homes – 15%
- Oversee all event marketing and vendor coordination.
- Manage production of the Parade of Homes Plan Book.
- Attend and support Parade of Homes Committee meetings.
- Design event signage, sponsorship materials, and marketing collateral.
- Provide onsite support during the Parade of Homes.
- Produce photography, videography, and virtual tour assets.
- Manage and design Parade of Homes websites.
Association Events – 5%
- Support event and education strategies to increase member engagement.
- Produce marketing materials for member events.
- Assist with sponsorship marketing and solicitation.
Other Duties – 5%
Qualifications
- Degree or relevant experience in marketing, business, or related field.
- Strong digital and social media expertise.
- 3 years in a marketing role, preferably with an agency, trade association, or similar.
- 2 years of design experience (Canva, Adobe programs).
- Experience creating drip campaigns for events or programs.
- Public relations and media partnership experience.
- Ability to manage cross-channel messaging and content development.
- Strong decision-making and multitasking abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work occasional nights/weekends for events.
- Experience with customer relations, vendor management, and budgets is a plus.
- Web design experience is a plus.
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Director of Marketing Compensation:
- $50,000–$60,000
