Required Skills & Qualifications
· Deep knowledge of CNC machining processes (milling, turning, multi-axis)
· Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
· Solid understanding of materials, tooling, fixturing, and machine strategies
· Experience with estimating systems, ERP, or spreadsheet-based cost models
· Familiarity with job shop environments, high-mix/low-volume production
· Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities
· Effective communicator and collaborative team player
Preferred Qualifications
· 8 years in machining, manufacturing, or estimating roles
· Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
· Experience with ERP systems such as Made to Manage, JobBOSS, or equivalents
· Lean manufacturing or cost reduction experience
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field
What You’ll Do
· Evaluate RFQs, engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications
· Analyze part design, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements
· Determine optimal machining processes, setups, cycle times, and routings
· Estimate labor hours, machine time, tooling, materials, and outside services
· Build detailed cost models, margins, and pricing structures
· Prepare professional quotations and cost breakdowns
· Collaborate with engineering, production, purchasing, and sales teams
· Suggest manufacturability improvements and cost-saving opportunities (DFM)
· Maintain and update estimating databases, labor rates, and material costs
· Track quote history and review win/loss results to sharpen future estimates
· Ensure compliance with quality, tolerance, and industry requirements
