What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic | Field Service Mechanic position at Mader Group?
If you’re the type of mechanic who takes pride in figuring things out, wants variety, likes earning real money, and wants more out of their career, this is the job for you.
At Mader Group, our Field Service Technicians work across some of the biggest mining operations in the United States, keeping heavy equipment moving where it matters most. This isn't some dealership job where you're stuck in the same bay doing. the same rebuild every day. You could be troubleshooting CAT haul trucks on a large surface mine, supporting an underground crew on production equipment, or traveling site-to-site handling breakdowns and rebuilds that actually challenge you.
What You'll Be Working On
- Field service repairs and breakdowns
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Component replacements and rebuilds
- Preventative maintenance and inspections
- Mine site shutdowns and project work
- Supporting either surface or underground mining operations depending on your background and assignment
Why work for Mader?
- Blue collar pride - Mader was founded by mechanics who got tired of how tradespeople were treated
- Real variety - different equipment, different challenges
- No getting stuck doing the same repetitive work every day
- Real career progression - pathways to leadership, mentorship positions, and office-based roles
- No shared service trucks - your truck, your office
- No egos, no micromanaging - just solid mechanics working alongside solide mechanics
What we're looking for
- Prior exposure to mining equipment such as CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, Sandvik
- Experience with machine rebuilds, overhauls, and major component replacement.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
- Familiarity with CAT SIS and ET or similar programs.
The Mader Difference:
A lot of companies talk about culture. We’d rather show it.
At Mader, you’re not just another number in a shop. You’re joining a team that backs good mechanics, gives people room to grow, and keeps work interesting.
If you’re tired of dealership politics, repetitive shop work, or feeling stuck where you are, this could be the move that changes your career.
