What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Macon Water Authority?
Job Summary:
Manage and coordinate various capital projects. Prepare the annual five-year capital investment program (CIP). Track all projects (Sewer, Water, and Stormwater) in design,bid, awaiting construction, and prepare appropriate reports.
Responsibilities:
- Performs research of records in the Macon-Bibb County Superior Court Clerk’s Office.
- Coordinates projects as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested by supervisors
- Manages Macon Water Authority Capital projects.
- Manages projects through the construction phase and takes a proactive role in addressing and avoiding potential construction issues promptly.
- Reviews change orders for adequate justifications and availability of project funds.
- Prepares complete, accurate, and concise written reports.
- Responds to inquiries and complaints with tact and courtesy, by providing complete and accurate information.
- Works effectively in team efforts by making a positive contribution and meeting individual responsibilities necessary to accomplish the organization’s objectives.
- Notifies supervisor at the earliest possible time of any critical information discovered that may be pertinent to any current issue.
- Plans and organizes work to meet deadlines and commitments to others.
- Promptly alerts management, in advance of deadlines, when work may not be completed on schedule. Coordinates efforts to either meet deadlines using alternate methods or establish a new deadline.
- Produces work that is accurate, thorough, complete, and understandable to others.
- Demonstrates practical knowledge of construction practices.
- Effectively monitors the progress of work by consultants/contractors and compares progress to the scope of work.
- Reviews invoices from consultants/contractors, compares them to agreements and processes billing promptly.
- Files and maintains project information in a complete and orderly manner that is easily referenced by other team members.
- Coordinate easement acquisitions.
- Prepares and administers contract documents.
- Works with attorneys on contract documents
- Demonstrates knowledge in preparing GANTT charts or PERK charts.
- Prepares GANTT and PERT charts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related fields or equivalent with three to five years of experience.
- Knowledge of a variety of software programs essential to MWA functions including AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- A valid Georgia Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, standing, and/or stooping.
- Ability to carry 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
- Occasional sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
- Ability to grasp and hold.
