Compensation Philosophy:
The Macon Water Authority (MWA) compensation philosophy states that the starting salary for each pay grade will be competitive and fair based on the minimum requirements of each position. For candidates with a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience above the minimum requirements, MWA has the ability to offer a starting salary between the minimum and mid-point, with a possibility of a salary closer to the mid-point.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the painting of buildings, lift and re-pump stations, piping, equipment, and machinery owned by the MWA. Performs various facility-related maintenance activities.
Responsibilities:
- Selecting required materials needed to perform work and obtaining quotes for supplies
- Prepares surfaces for painting by sanding, sandblasting, pressure washing, scraping, and chemical use
- Uses brushes, rollers, or sprayers to paint
- Performs minor carpentry and plumbing tasks as required
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested by supervisors
- Utilizes computers, including programs such as work order management software, Microsoft Office including email, and accessing server for use of manuals, photos, job descriptions, and forms
- Subject to being on-call
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of technical school or three to five years of experience, preferably in Building Maintenance
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in painting
- Valid Georgia driver's license with a clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping
- Frequently working over water, in open spaces, at heights, and in tight spaces
- Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, paint-related vapors, or mists
- Ability to carry 25 pounds up to 50 pounds and occasional over 50 pounds
- Occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing
- Physical strength and endurance to perform manual labor for extended periods, possibly under adverse weather or working conditions
- Ability to grasp and hold
Environmental Working Conditions:
- The position requires some exposure to working outside, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants, and possibly reptiles
- Frequent exposure to dry conditions, high and low humidity, wetness, and inclement weather
- Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic)
- Occasional exposure to working over water or working at heights
- Exposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar
