What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Manager position at Mackinnon Bruce International?
The Research Science Manager position entails managing biology team members which includes training and mentoring junior team members. It requires directing, coordinating and managing biology R&D projects and biology related service requests.
Essential Job Functions:
- Apply current technologies to customer projects as well as expand their application into new areas.
- Extrapolate learnings in biological science to create fragrance and flavor technologies for additional benefits in consumer products.
- Develop new technologies, methods and intellectual property to anticipate and support our client's business needs.
- Develop in vitro lab as well as in home use test methods. Data analysis, interpretation, consult and trouble shoot technical and/or project related issues, formulating next steps to develop the projects.
- External and internal support and collaboration with cross division teams, global alignment on methods and results are expected.
- Adapt to corporate culture, engage meaningfully with colleagues across levels and work in team environments.
- Presentations and report writing to both external and internal customers are also expected.
- Oversee administrative and legal issues related to biology R&D.
- Regular review of the competitive landscape and scientific literature.
- Other duties as needed.
Educational Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in biological sciences is required. A Masters or PhD degree in Microbiology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Sensory Science, or Psychophysics is preferred with commensurate experience.
Experience: The ideal candidate would have at least a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with 7 years direct experience in the fragrance and flavor or related industry. Or more preferably a Masters or PhD degree in Microbiology, Psychology, Neuroscience or Sensory Science.
Salary : $130,000 - $160,000
