Mackie Myers is partnering with a growing, international product-based business to hire a Controller for its North American finance team.
This is a confidential search for a business going through a period of change, consolidation, and process improvement. The company is looking for a strong finance leader who can bring structure, technical accounting discipline, and operational control to a complex finance environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can operate at both strategic and detailed levels. The successful candidate will lead day-to-day accounting operations, improve financial processes, manage and develop the finance team, and act as a key deputy to the CFO when required.
The role will suit someone with strong initiative, sound technical accounting knowledge, and the confidence to challenge existing processes while building trust across the business.
The Role
The Controller will oversee accounting and finance operations across North America, supporting the CFO in building a more effective, scalable, and well-controlled finance function.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the accounting function across multiple locations
- Managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Ensuring accurate financial reporting in line with US GAAP
- Improving accounting processes, controls, documentation, and reporting discipline
- Supporting consolidation across North American finance operations
- Leading, developing, and restructuring finance teams where required
- Partnering with operational and commercial teams to improve financial visibility
- Supporting cash flow management, working capital, receivables, deductions, and rebates
- Improving inventory, margin, customer profitability, and operational reporting
- Supporting systems integration and finance process transformation
- Acting as a key point of contact for senior leadership when the CFO is unavailable
- Supporting audit, tax, compliance, and wider finance projects
- Contributing to strategic planning, M&A readiness, and future growth initiatives
Candidate Profile
- The ideal candidate will be a technically strong Controller or senior finance leader who has operated in a product-based, inventory-led, manufacturing, distribution, consumer goods, medical device, or similar environment.
- You will bring strong accounting fundamentals, but this role requires more than technical capability. The business needs someone with initiative, leadership presence, and the ability to improve how a finance function operates.
- Strong US GAAP and technical accounting knowledge
- Experience managing accounting teams across multiple locations or business units
- Background in an inventory-based, product-based, distribution, manufacturing, consumer goods, or medical device environment
- Experience improving close processes, reporting, controls, and financial visibility
- Strong understanding of inventory, receivables, deductions, rebates, margins, and working capital
- Experience supporting or leading finance transformation, systems integration, or process improvement projects
- Ability to work closely with senior leadership and deputize for the CFO when required
- Strong people leadership skills, with the confidence to manage change and raise standards
- A hands-on, practical approach and willingness to get into the detail when needed
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
