Floral Designer - Full Time

Job Summary

Floral Designers are creative professionals who specialize in the artistry and execution of floral arrangements for everyday sales, special events, and holidays. At Mackenthun’s, they serve as the design experts behind our floral displays, collaborating with customers and team members to deliver beautiful, high-quality arrangements that celebrate life’s moments.

Key Responsibilities

Floral Creativity and Execution

• Design visually striking custom arrangements for walk-in customers, special orders, events, and seasonal displays
• Stay up to date with floral trends and incorporate them into product offerings and department displays
• Prepare bulk arrangements for corporate clients, weddings, funerals, and celebrations.
• Assist with developing seasonal themes and product offerings in collaboration with department leadership.

Customer Collaboration

• Listen to customer preferences and translate their vision into personalized floral arrangements
• Offer expert advice on color combinations, flower meanings, and care instructions
• Suggest add-ons or upgrades to elevate arrangements for gifts or events.

Departmental Support

• Maintain floral tools and workspaces in clean and functional condition
• Assist with inventory rotation and support flower care routines as needed
• Contribute to the overall look and feel of the floral area with eye-catching merchandising

Availability

• Full time 35-40 hours per week
• Daytime/evening and every other weekend
• Willing to work/travel between 2 of our stores (Waconia and Minnetrista)

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in floral design or formal training/certification preferred
• Strong artistic sense, with an eye for composition, color and proportion
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to multitask and manage deadlines during high-volume periods
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds
• Extended periods in refrigerated environments
• Use of floral tools and exposure to cleaning agents
• Use of point-of-sale systems, phones, and packaging tools
