Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and organized HR Generalist to support our multi-location retail operations. This position will primarily focus on recruiting and talent acquisition while also assisting with key HR operational functions such as leave administration, HRIS maintenance, and employee documentation compliance.
This role will be remote and ideally located in Northern Michigan to support hiring and HR operations across retail locations in the Upper Peninsula. The HR Generalist will partner closely with the HR Director and store leadership to support workforce needs and maintain consistent HR processes across locations.
Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle talent acquisition processes, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding new employees using ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems)
- Oversee employee orientation programs to ensure seamless integration into the company culture and policies.
- Administer employee evaluation and performance management systems to support ongoing development and recognition initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with employment and labor laws, including FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and workers' compensation regulations.
- Facilitate change management initiatives by supporting organizational design, succession planning, and strategic workforce planning efforts.
- Support employee relations by mediating conflicts, conducting investigations, and promoting positive communication across teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience in human resources management with a strong understanding of human capital management practices.
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Oracle HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, or UltiPro is essential.
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources or recruiting experience
- Experience supporting recruiting processes in a multi-location or retail environment preferred
- Basic knowledge of employment laws including FMLA, ADA, and general HR compliance practices
- Experience working with HRIS systems and electronic employee file management
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally
- Must pass background check
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams at all levels of the organization.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
