Summary

Asphalt Foreman in supervising and coordinating daily activities of paving crew while leading them to provide a safe working environment and quality to your customers

Duties

· Manage crew to perform installation of asphalt pavement.

· Manage daily operation of the asphalt crew including but not limited to, direction of asphalt crew and truck drivers, work with dispatcher for proper asphalt delivery.

· Set up automatics on asphalt paver

· Manage grading and paving layouts

· Must maintain and keep asphalt equipment clean, greased, fueled, and in proper operational condition

· Work closely with Contracting Superintendent & Project Manager as to the scheduling of projects and crew members needed to complete projects.

· Managing crew to optimize efficiency of asphalt job.

· Manage daily paperwork functions as needed

· Managing trucking requirements.

· Understanding yield and making sure we have the correct amount of material to complete the job

· Take leadership role in safety functions including personal safety, traffic control management, and toolbox safety meeting requirements.

· Ensure installation meets specifications including proper depth, yield control, and density.

· Manage customer contact as needed

· Managing cross training other employees

· Perform other job duties as assigned, but not limited to including concrete flatwork, snow removal, etc.

Requirements

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and medical DOT Card

· Must be able to operate all pieces of equipment associated with asphalt paving, including asphalt paver, roller, milling machine, skid steer, plate tampers, etc.

· Must be able to follow chain of command

· Must have a can-do positive attitude.

· Must be able to work in a TEAM environment

· Need to be able to read & understand drawings & cut sheets

· Must be able work, but not limited to days, nights, and weekends.

· Must follow all safety standards and policies

Physical Demands

· Lift heavy objects, up to 100 lbs. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Good dexterity of two or more limbs (for example, fingers, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing.

· Physical Capacity Level: 4 Heavy Work

Salary

· $35.00-$45.00 hourly based on experience

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and

• 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

· Ability to write simple correspondence.

· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
