Job Summary
The Hotel Restaurant Busser plays a key role in creating an exceptional dining experience at MacArthur Place. You will ensure that tables are cleared, reset, and maintained efficiently, supporting servers and kitchen staff to provide seamless service. Working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, the Busser helps maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall guest satisfaction.
This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and professionalism, as well as the ability to anticipate guest needs and respond courteously to special requests. The Busser is an ambassador of the MacArthur Place brand, contributing to a polished, welcoming, and memorable guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Clear and reset tables efficiently between courses and after guests depart, ensuring proper placement of tableware, napkins, condiments, and centerpieces.
- Assist servers by delivering food and beverages to tables as needed.
- Refill water glasses and provide attentive service to enhance the guest experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, service stations, and high-traffic areas; restock silverware, glassware, and plates.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and allergen-handling guidelines to ensure guest safety and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Perform pre-shift duties, including setting up service stations, checking supplies, and preparing dining areas for service.
- Perform post-shift duties, including cleaning service areas, storing supplies, and assisting with inventory or event breakdowns.
- Monitor the dining environment for safety hazards, including spills, hot plates, or obstacles, and take corrective action promptly.
- Assist with setup, breakdown, and support for special events, banquets, or room service as needed.
- Collaborate with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff during peak service periods to ensure timely, seamless service.
- Maintain a polished appearance and professional demeanor, adhering to grooming, uniform, and conduct standards.
- Follow timekeeping, time and attendance, meal, and rest break policies in accordance with California labor laws.
- Uphold MacArthur Place’s luxury service standards and commitment to hospitality excellence.

Requirements:Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is preferred; training provided.
- Team player with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and guest satisfaction.
- Ability to successfully complete all required training, including Food Handler and Alcohol Service Certification (or obtain upon hire).
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and high-occupancy periods.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced, high-energy hotel restaurant environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift/carry up to 40 lbs. for extended periods.
- Ability to carry and balance multiple dishes, trays, and service items simultaneously.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures, conditions, noise levels, and exposure to hot kitchen equipment.
- Required to maintain energy, focus, and professionalism during peak service periods.
