Position Summary: The Barista is passionate about creating the perfect cup every time, serving the finest and most delicious coffee, tea, and other beverages to delight every guest. This role combines artistry with precision—operating coffee machines, grinders, and equipment safely and efficiently—while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming barista area. The Barista sets the standard for food and beverage quality, safety, and hygiene, delivers exceptional, personalized customer service, handles transactions accurately, and works seamlessly with the food and beverage team to ensure smooth and enjoyable operations for all guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Beverage Preparation and Service: Prepare and serve a variety of beverages and coffee, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and cold brews according to standardized recipes. Serve teas, juices, and other non-alcoholic beverages. Ensure that all beverages are served promptly and meet the hotel's quality standards. Customize drinks based on guest preferences and dietary requirements.
- Guest Interaction: Greet and welcome guests warmly. Take orders and handle guest requests efficiently. Provide information about the menu, including beverage options and potential allergens. Resolve guest complaints promptly and professionally, escalating to upper management as needed. Build rapport with regular guests and remember their preferences. Deliver exceptional service with professionalism and care.
- Operations: Operate coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment safely and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the barista shop area, including counters, equipment, and seating areas. Ensure that all supplies, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, and disposable items, are adequately stocked. Follow health and safety guidelines, including food safety regulations and proper hygiene practices. Conduct regular equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Cash Handling: Process guest transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Handle cash, credit card transactions, and room charges securely. Balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts. Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting of sales.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other F&B staff to ensure smooth operations. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors regarding guest orders and special requests. Participate in team meetings and training sessions. Support team members during busy periods and assist with other duties as needed.
- Product Knowledge: Stay informed about new beverages, recipes, and techniques. Maintain an understanding of coffee bean varieties, origins, and roasting processes. Share knowledge with guests to enhance their experience. Continuously seek to improve skills and knowledge through training and self-study.
- Compliance: Follow all company policies including service standards, time and attendance, dress code and grooming, and conduct expectations. Be punctual, professional, and committed to delivering excellent guest experience.
