Field Service Technician - Water Treatment
MAC Water Technologies, Inc.
Kansas City, KS (field-based, Kansas City metro and regional travel)
About the company
MAC Water Technologies, Inc. is an engineering-based water and wastewater company in Kansas City, Kansas. We design, build, install, and maintain treatment systems for industrial, municipal, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and laboratory customers. Equipment is manufactured in our Kansas City, Kansas facility, including the MACU product line. The work is referral-driven: show up prepared, do what you say you will do, and finish what you start.
The role
We are hiring a Service Technician to service and maintain customer water treatment equipment in the field. You will keep filtration systems, UV sterilizers, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and laboratory filtration and high-purity units running reliably, and you will be the person the customer sees when something needs attention.
What you will do
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and emergency service on filtration equipment, including cartridge, multimedia, carbon, and related filter systems.
- Service and maintain UV sterilization equipment, including lamp and sleeve changes, intensity and dosage checks, and basic electrical and control troubleshooting.
- Service reverse osmosis systems: prefilters, membranes, pumps, pressure and flow readings, recovery and rejection checks, clean-in-place support, and leak repair.
- Maintain laboratory filtration and high-purity units, including RO/DI systems, point-of-use lab water equipment, and related storage and distribution components.
- Replace consumables and wear parts (filters, O-rings, lamps, membranes, resin or media as directed) and document what was used.
- Troubleshoot pumps, valves, gauges, chemical feed equipment, softeners, and basic instrumentation tied to these systems.
- Start up and commission equipment after install or repair, and walk the customer through normal operation.
- Complete service reports, photos, readings, and parts notes the same day so engineering and the office can follow the job.
- Keep the service vehicle, tools, and spare parts stocked and job sites clean.
- Follow customer site rules, including lab, plant, and clean-area requirements, and use lockout/tagout and PPE correctly.
- Coordinate with MAC Water engineers when a problem needs design, chemistry, or parts support.
What you bring
- Hands-on experience servicing mechanical, plumbing, or process equipment. Water treatment, RO, HVAC, boiler, pump, or industrial maintenance experience is a plus.
- Comfort reading pressure, flow, and water-quality readings and using them to find a problem.
- Ability to work safely around water, chemicals, electricity, and pressurized equipment.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean enough driving record to be insured for customer visits. Regional day travel is expected; occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Clear written and spoken communication. Customers should leave the visit knowing what you found and what happens next.
- Reliability. This role is built on showing up on time and finishing the work.
Helpful, not required
- Prior work on RO, DI, UV, softeners, or laboratory water systems.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, food, municipal, or laboratory facilities.
