Save the Children After School Program Coordinator

Primary Function: The Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the full implementation of Save the Children’s in-school, afterschool, and math programming to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth. This role collaborates closely with school personnel to identify students in need of targeted support, organizes small group and enrichment activities based on assessment data, and ensures the effective delivery of literacy, math, and healthy choices initiatives. The coordinator provides coaching and feedback to tutors, monitors program fidelity, and administers pre- and post-assessments to evaluate student progress. Additionally, the Program Coordinator engages families through planned activities and events, collects and analyzes engagement data, and works with school staff to align family outreach with schoolwide goals. This position also ensures adherence to child safeguarding and data protection policies, maintains accurate program records, and fosters a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all participants.

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: School Administration

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITES:  

1. Oversee the Implementation of In-School Programming
2. Work with school personnel to identify children who would benefit from small group support based on STAR Assessment® data
3. Oversee the implementation of and/or implement activities in Skill-Building and Read-Aloud components facilitated by Save the Children trained literacy tutors
4. Support literacy tutors in the planning and implementation of the literacy program
5. Provide feedback to literacy tutors concerning best practices in literacy
6. Administer pre- and post-assessments for children participating in Save the Children programming
7. Oversee the Implementation of Afterschool Programming
8. Structure the schedule of activities
9. Work with literacy staff to organize children into groups based on grade levels and reading levels
10. Work with Healthy Choices Coordinator to organize children into groups based on grade levels
11. Support literacy tutors in the planning and implementation of the literacy program
12. Provide feedback to literacy tutors concerning best practices in literacy
13. Provide feedback to Healthy Choices Coordinator concerning best practices for physical activity and nutrition education activities.
14. Communicate regularly with Save the Children Lead Associate
15. Record program attendance
16. Oversee the Implementation of Math Programming
17. Work with the math tutor(s) to structure the schedule of the math block
18. Work with the math tutor(s) to organize children into groups based on grade/ability levels
19. Support math tutor(s) in the planning and/or implementation of daily lessons and activities provided in the pacing guide during the in-school, afterschool and/or summer programs
20. Provide feedback to math tutor(s) concerning best practices in hands-on learning, math routines, and basic fact fluency
21. Assist with administering the STAR assessments and analyzing the data
22. Address individual children’s needs with appropriate staff and devise possible solutions
23. Communicate regularly with their Lead Associate

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bilingual/Biliterate.
2. Current Washington State Teaching Certificate or Para Educator.

Minimum Qualifications: 

1. BA Degree 
2. Experience working with elementary school-aged children in school-based programs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 35% sitting, 35% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
