The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, driven Construction Estimator specializing in heavy civil site development. In this role, you will play a vital part in evaluating bid specifications, interpreting geotechnical reports, and building accurate, competitive estimates for mass excavation, grading, and underground utility installation (water, sewer, storm drain).
Key Responsibilities
- Quantity Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from blueprints, CAD files, and specifications.
- Bid Management: Prepare complete bid packages, solicit subcontractor quotes, and evaluate supplier pricing.
- Risk Analysis: Evaluate project risks, constructability issues, soil/geotechnical conditions, and site constraints.
- Collaboration: Partner with project managers and field superintendents to review bids, perform value engineering, and transition awarded projects into construction.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5 years of estimating experience specifically focused on earthwork, sitework, and underground utilities.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with modern estimating and takeoff software (B2W, Agtek, Bluebeam).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and field experience).
- Local Knowledge: Strong understanding of Utah-specific soil conditions, local municipal building codes, and regional utility regulations.
