Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, and logistics operations within a flexible packaging facility. This role has primary responsibility for extrusion performance, BRCGS/AIB compliance, inventory accuracy, warehouse management, and on-time customer delivery. The Operations Manager drives operational excellence through safety leadership, continuous improvement, cost control, and team development while ensuring customer requirements and quality standards are consistently met
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Extrusion
- Lead daily manufacturing operations with a focus on resin straw extrusion.
- Ensure production schedules are achieved safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.
- Monitor and improve key metrics including OEE, throughput, yield, scrap, downtime, and labor efficiency.
- Partner with Maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and preventive maintenance effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and operational best practices.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve productivity.
Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with BRCGS Packaging Materials, AIB, GMP, and customer requirements.
- Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits and ensure successful certification outcomes.
- Support CAPA programs, root cause investigations, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Promote a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the facility.
Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Oversee raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory control.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventories, and ERP system controls.
- Optimize inventory levels to minimize stockouts, excess inventory, and obsolescence.
- Improve warehouse organization, material flow, and storage utilization.
Logistics & Supply Chain
- Manage shipping, receiving, warehousing, and transportation activities.
- Coordinate with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure on-time delivery performance.
- Monitor freight costs and implement strategies to improve logistics efficiency.
- Ensure shipping documentation and customer requirements are consistently met.
Leadership & Safety
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and operational teams.
- Establish accountability through KPIs and performance management.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all governmental, environmental, health, and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent manufacturing leadership experience will be considered.
Experience
- 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in flexible packaging, plastics, film extrusion, or related industries.
- Strong experience with blown film and/or cast film extrusion processes.
- Demonstrated success managing BRCGS and/or AIB-certified facilities.
- Experience with inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and ERP/MRP systems.
- Proven track record of driving operational improvements and cost reductions.
