Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for civil and site construction projects, including earthwork, grading, drainage, paving, and utilities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed proposals and bid packages efficiently.
- Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs from drawings and models to determine material quantities and labor requirements.
- Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor project costs during execution to support cost control initiatives and identify potential overruns early.
- Assist in contract review and administration, ensuring all scope of work aligns with contractual obligations and project goals.
Skills
- Proficiency in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of construction site processes, safety protocols, and project management principles.
- Excellent knowledge of cost control techniques, pricing strategies, and contract management within the construction industry.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents accurately.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and suppliers.
- Prior experience in heavy civil or site development projects is preferred; familiarity with construction management practices is a plus.
