This role blends strategic buying, market insight, and sales execution. You’ll be instrumental in keeping our inventory fresh, profitable, and aligned with customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase used trucks, tractors, and trailers for multiple locations
- Partner with sales teams to locate equipment for immediate customer needs
- Buy, sell, and wholesale inventory to dealers and external partners—maximizing profitability
- Evaluate, appraise, and inspect trades to determine condition and market value
- Manage disposition of aged or excess inventory in collaboration with General Managers
- Track auction activity and market trends to inform pricing and buying strategies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEM dealers, fleets, leasing companies, and industry partners
- Ensure all transactions are properly documented (titles, payments, agreements, compliance)
- Follow up on trade discrepancies and payment collections
What You Bring
Proven experience in the Class 8 truck market (retail and/or wholesale)
- Strong negotiation instincts and a competitive drive to win deals
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deals simultaneously
- Market awareness with the ability to assess value and risk quickly
High integrity and a team-first mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of industry experience
- 2 years of Class 8 retail experience
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred, not required)
- CDL preferred
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Work Environment & Travel
- Primarily office-based with some time spent in yards, service shops, and outdoor lots
- Approximately 30% travel to auctions, dealerships, and partner locations
