Service Writer - IL

M&K Truck Centers is a premier commercial truck dealership specializing in Mack and Volvo truck sales, recognized for quality, reliability, and industry-leading service. We are growing and looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Service Advisor to join our team.

The Service Advisor serves as the primary liaison between customers and the service department, ensuring repairs and maintenance are accurately documented, communicated, and completed in a timely manner. This role is responsible for managing repair orders, coordinating with technicians, communicating repair recommendations, and delivering an exceptional customer experience throughout the service process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and schedule service, maintenance, and repair appointments for commercial trucks and fleet vehicles.

• Open, update, and close repair orders accurately and efficiently.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the repair process.

• Communicate vehicle status updates, estimated completion times, and repair recommendations.

• Coordinate with diesel technicians to prioritize work and ensure timely completion of repairs.

• Review technician findings and prepare accurate repair estimates.

• Recommend preventative maintenance services and necessary repairs in a professional and ethical manner.

• Research warranty coverage, recalls, service bulletins, and manufacturer repair information.

• Ensure all labor operations, parts, and customer concerns are properly documented on repair orders.

• Monitor work in progress and proactively communicate delays or additional repair needs.

• Assist in maintaining departmental productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction goals.

• Build long-term relationships with customers by delivering outstanding service and follow-through.

• Maintain compliance with dealership, manufacturer, and safety standards.

Qualification:

• Previous experience as a Service Advisor, Service Writer, Service Coordinator, or similar customer-facing service role.

• Experience in a commercial truck, heavy-duty truck, diesel, fleet, automotive, equipment, or transportation service environment preferred.

• Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.

• Ability to effectively explain technical repair information to customers.

• Experience managing multiple repair orders in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Proficiency with dealership management systems and computer applications.

• Experience with ADP/CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar dealer management software preferred.

• Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, parts personnel, and customers.

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

• Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Education and Experience

• Business Degree preferred or equivalent related experience.

• Previous experience in a heavy-duty truck dealership, diesel repair facility, fleet maintenance operation, or automotive dealership strongly preferred.
