Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Construction Estimator to join our team. This position plays a critical role in the success of our construction projects by providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, residential, and/or industrial projects. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of construction means and methods, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset.
This is a full-time, on-site role in Brooklyn, NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Lead the full bid process including quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, risk assessments, and value engineering.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather pricing and scope details.
- Prepare bid packages and proposals, and present estimates to executives and clients.
- Identify and assess cost impacts of project risks and opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, labor rates, and material costs to maintain up-to-date estimating databases.
- Mentor junior estimators and assist in the development of department standards and tools.
- Participate in post-bid reviews and provide insights for continuous improvement.
- Ensure estimates comply with applicable codes, regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam estimating software.
- Experience in both New Ground-up Construction as well as Restoration.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of local building codes and permitting requirements is a plus.
Preferred Traits
- Leadership experience in managing estimating teams or mentoring others.
- Familiarity with both negotiated and hard-bid project delivery methods.
- Experience in a range of sectors (e.g., commercial, multi-family, institutional, infrastructure).
