Job description:

01 Journeyman Electrician / Solar

$40–$60 per hour DOE | Field and Office Opportunity | Help Grow a Commercial Electrical Department

Ready to Have a Bigger Impact?

You’ve spent years learning the electrical trade. You know what it takes to complete a commercial project safely, correctly, and profitably—and you’ve probably seen what happens when bids and plans are prepared without enough real-world field knowledge.

At LSM Heating Plumbing Electric—formerly Lynden Sheet Metal—we’re looking for an experienced Washington 01 Journeyman Electrician who wants to use that knowledge in a larger way.

This is an opportunity to combine commercial fieldwork with estimating, bidding, project planning, and helping shape the continued growth of our commercial electrical department.

It is not strictly an office position, and it is not simply another field-electrician opening. The balance can develop around the successful candidate’s strengths and experience.

The Opportunity

You may be a strong commercial electrician who has already helped estimate work or coordinate projects. Or you may have spent most of your career in the field and are ready to develop the next side of your profession.

In this position, you may:

· Perform commercial electrical service and project work

· Review plans, specifications, and project requirements

· Prepare estimates and competitive bids

· Develop accurate labor and material projections

· Perform takeoffs and obtain material pricing

· Visit potential jobsites and evaluate project conditions

· Identify scope gaps, risks, and project opportunities

· Coordinate awarded work with field employees and other departments

· Help develop customer and contractor relationships

· Mentor electricians and apprentices

· Improve estimating, planning, and departmental processes

· Help determine which commercial electrical opportunities LSM pursues

· Contribute to the long-term direction of the department

Your field experience will not be treated as something separate from estimating. It will be one of the most valuable things you bring to the position.

Why LSM?

LSM has served Northwest Washington since 1940. We’re an established heating, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and fabrication company with the infrastructure, customer base, and multi-trade capabilities to support continued commercial electrical growth.

We’re large enough to provide stability, resources, and opportunities—but still local enough for the right person to make a meaningful and visible impact.

This isn’t a role where every system and decision has already been set in stone. You’ll have a real opportunity to bring forward your experience, improve how we pursue and execute commercial work, and help us build the department thoughtfully.

What We Offer

·* $40–$60 per hour*, depending on experience

· Take-home company vehicle

· Primarily local and regional work

· Full-time, year-round employment

· Monday–Friday day shift

· Medical and vision insurance

· Voluntary dental, accident, and life insurance

· Up to 4 weeks of PTO

· 6 paid holidays

· Retirement plan with a 4% company match

· Company-provided cell phone

· Clothing allowance

· Employee discounts

· Ongoing training and professional development

· Opportunity to grow into greater estimating, project-planning, and leadership responsibilities

· The stability of a company serving Northwest Washington since 1940

What We’re Looking For

Required:

· Current Washington State 01 Journey Level Electrician Certificate

· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

· Strong commercial electrical experience

· Solar installation and troubleshooting experience

· Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code and applicable local requirements

· Ability to read and interpret commercial plans, specifications, and one-line diagrams

· Comfort using computers and learning estimating and project-management systems

Estimating experience is strongly preferred, but we’re willing to consider an exceptional field electrician who has the aptitude and genuine interest to grow into that part of the position.

The right person:

· Understands how jobs are actually built—not just how they appear on paper

· Can identify labor, material, access, scheduling, and coordination requirements

· Communicates effectively with customers, contractors, vendors, and field employees

· Thinks about both quality workmanship and project profitability

· Is organized and follows through on details

· Can shift between hands-on fieldwork and focused office responsibilities

· Wants to help improve systems rather than simply work within them

· Can earn the respect of experienced tradespeople

· Is interested in helping build something for the long term

Build the Next Stage of Your Career

This position does not have to follow one rigid path.

You may begin with a heavier field focus while learning our customers, systems, and estimating process. Over time, the position could transition toward more estimating, bidding, project coordination, mentoring, and department-development responsibilities.

The exact balance will depend on your experience, strengths, interests, and the needs of the department.

We’re not looking for someone to simply fill a truck or produce numbers from behind a desk. We’re looking for an experienced electrical professional who can help us pursue the right work, plan it well, and build a strong commercial electrical operation.

If you’ve started wondering what comes after being a journeyman—or whether there’s a company where your field experience could have a bigger impact—we should talk.

Apply today. Even if you’re not actively searching, we welcome a professional and confidential conversation about what this opportunity could become.
