Job description:
We are seeking an experienced Outbound Transportation Part Leader to manage transportation planning, carrier coordination, and process optimization within a dynamic logistics environment. This leadership role focuses on ensuring timely and efficient outbound shipments by developing strategic transportation plans, overseeing carrier performance, and driving continuous improvement in outbound transportation processes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, or transportation planning with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with customers, carriers, and internal departments. This role is heavily involved in KPI tracking, exception handling, system optimization, and the development of SOPs, all while ensuring regulatory compliance and on-time performance. Candidates should bring excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, along with a proactive mindset to resolve operational challenges and enhance carrier management practices.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor overall transportation planning progress and on time pickup for Western DCs
- Tender loads to carriers on-time in TMS
- Schedule pickup appointments on C3 and TMS with Carriers
- Release loads to Warehouse Management System on time
- Follow up with carrier and warehouse to maximize on-time truck arrival & shipping
- Follow up with carrier to secure same day or next day recovery
- Relay delivery appointment reschedule requests on time
- Validate events during transit, such as accessorial charges
- Draft and submit daily hand-off report regarding missed pickups, recovery/rescheduling status, remaining overdue orders, and how to clear them out
- Leading a team of transportation planners to analyze data, forecast transportation needs, and assess the impact of transportation projects
- Collaborating with stakeholders such as customers, related departments, community groups, and transportation providers to coordinate planning and efforts
- Correspondence with load planners and related parties as well as customer
- KPI and Monitoring Indicators Management
- Carrier Performance Review
- Resolve transportation/carrier related issues
- Operational issue finding and improvement planning in process and control
- Operational Exception Handling: Missed Pickups, Carrier Tendering, Recoveries, Reschedules

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred
- Experience in Carrier Management/Transportation/Logistics preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time sensitive situations in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Must be able to learn and regularly operate various computer systems across different platforms
