A growing environmental and engineering consulting team is seeking a Solid Waste Engineer to support and lead a variety of civil, environmental, and solid waste projects across Texas. This role involves technical leadership, project management, regulatory interpretation, and client engagement. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in solid waste permitting, site civil design, and environmental compliance, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute to business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Review technical deliverables including site data, reports, construction plans, cost estimates, and permit applications
- Plan, coordinate, and direct work for multiple clients and projects
- Support strategic initiatives and business development, including proposal preparation and cross-selling
- Maintain quality control across technical and administrative tasks
- Serve as a client point of contact and foster strong relationships
- Conduct on-site work at landfills, contaminated sites, and other field locations
- Travel for short-duration projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related environmental field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas, or ability to obtain within one year
- 5-15 years of experience in solid waste engineering or a related field
- Experience in solid waste permitting, biogas system design, remediation, site civil design, and gas collection and control systems (GCCS)
- Familiarity with Florida and Southeastern U.S. environmental regulations
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD (Civil 3D preferred)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
