The Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to provide advanced technical leadership across Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS), SCADA platforms, and Industrial Control Systems (ICS). In this role, you will support the development, integration, commissioning, and optimization of complex, interconnected control and monitoring systems that are essential to critical facility operations.
You'll work closely with engineering, commissioning, and project teams to ensure systems perform reliably, communicate seamlessly, and meet all performance and security requirements. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate sophisticated electrical and mechanical distribution environments. Local, regional, and national travel may be required.
Systems Development & Integration
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of complex BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and ICS systems.
- Configure advanced system integrations and ensure interoperability across multiple vendor platforms.
- Perform TCP/IP network configuration and diagnose communication issues.
- Configure communication devices, gateways, and protocols (e.g., Modbus) and use tools like Modscan for testing and monitoring.
- Read and interpret vendor documentation to configure power meters, PDUs, ATS systems, generators, STS, UPS, and battery systems.
- Navigate EPMS and SCADA applications for monitoring, trending, event analysis, and data retrieval.
- Safely operate breakers for monitoring and testing procedures (open, close, rack-in, rack-out).
- Understand PLC applications, update projects, and configure communication parameters.
- Perform basic electrical/mechanical calculations and prepare simple sketches, CX plans, and data sheets.
- Assist with the review of supplier documentation to ensure compliance.
- Perform point-to-point testing and functional startup procedures for BMS, EPMS, and ICS systems.
- Create and manage startup scripts, issue logs, and commissioning documentation using CX tools.
- Apply foundational knowledge of electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, relays, UPS systems, and power monitoring equipment.
- Apply basic PLC and SCADA programming and troubleshooting skills.
- Produce clear technical writing for reports, documentation, and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to applicable industry codes and standards.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
- Travel to customer sites to support commissioning and startup activities.
- Strong understanding of BMS/EPMS/SCADA/ICS systems.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and power distribution equipment.
- Basic to intermediate programming and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience working with communication protocols and industrial networking.
- Proficiency in technical documentation and system-level problem solving.
