About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Project Manager with strong expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, stormwater management, and flood risk mitigation. This role is ideal for a senior‑level professional who enjoys leading technically challenging civil and water resources projects while overseeing client relationships, project delivery, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
You will guide high‑impact projects involving watershed studies, stormwater systems, resilience and flood mitigation planning, conveyance system improvements, drainage design, and infrastructure adaptation. This position also offers opportunities to mentor developing engineers and shape the growth of the Water Resources practice.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Project Leadership
- Lead the planning, modeling, and design of stormwater systems, drainage infrastructure, flood control facilities, and watershed improvements.
- Oversee H&H modeling efforts, including hydrologic runoff analysis, open‑channel flow, culvert/bridge hydraulics, storm sewer modeling, detention/retention design, and basin routing.
- Conduct and supervise floodplain analyses, resilience planning, and compliance with state/local stormwater and flood standards.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risk assessments, technical quality, and overall delivery.
- Prepare and review technical reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
Client & Regulatory Coordination
- Serve as the primary contact for municipal, utility, and public-sector clients.
- Lead coordination with permitting entities and ensure projects comply with relevant stormwater and environmental regulatory frameworks.
- Facilitate design meetings, progress updates, and coordination with public agencies and stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor engineering staff and promote technical skill development in H&H and stormwater engineering.
- Support a collaborative, multidisciplinary work environment by coordinating with civil, environmental, transportation, and planning teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Extensive experience in H&H modeling and stormwater engineering
- Proficiency with modeling tools such as HEC‑RAS (1D/2D), HEC‑HMS, SWMM, XP‑SWMM, PondPack, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS applications
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex water resources or stormwater projects
- Strong understanding of floodplain management, drainage design, resilience planning, and stormwater permitting
- Knowledge of construction practices, cost estimating, and design standards
