SCADA Programmer - Data Center Systems Employment Type: Full‑Time
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced SCADA Programmer with a strong background in data center infrastructure systems and hands‑on expertise with Inductive Automation's Ignition platform. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, commissioning, and maintaining SCADA solutions that support mission‑critical data center operations, including power, cooling, and monitoring systems. The ideal candidate understands the reliability, redundancy, and uptime requirements unique to data center environments.
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain SCADA applications using Ignition (Vision and/or Perspective).
- DevelopdatacenterfocusedSCADA solutions for:
- Electrical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs)
- Mechanical systems (chillers, CRAHs/CRACs, cooling plants)
- Environmental monitoring and alarms
- Create and maintain HMI/SCADA graphics, tags, alarm management, and historian data.
- Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs and intelligent devices using Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, SNMP, and other industry protocols.
- Support system commissioning, factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT).
- Implement alarm strategies aligned with data center operational best practices and escalation workflows.
- Troubleshoot SCADA, communication, and system integration issues in live environments.
- Optimize system performance, data reliability, and visualization clarity.
- Collaborate with controls engineers, electrical engineers, IT/networking teams, and data center operations staff.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, network diagrams, and configuration backups.
- Support system expansions, upgrades, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Provide operational support during critical events or planned maintenance windows.
- 3 years of experience as a SCADA Programmer or Controls Engineer.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Ignition SCADA (Vision and/or Perspective).
- Demonstrated experience working in data center environments or with mission‑critical facilities.
- Solid understanding ofdatacenter infrastructure systems:
- Electrical distribution and redundancy (N, N 1, 2N concepts)
- Mechanical and cooling systems
- Experience with common industrial communication protocols:
- Modbus TCP/RTU
- BACnet
- OPC UA
- SNMP (preferred in data center monitoring)
- Experience integrating PLC-based control systems into SCADA platforms.
- Understanding of alarm management best practices (ISA‑18.2 / EEMUA concepts a plus).
- Ability to read and interpret control drawings, network diagrams, and sequences of operation.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in critical operational environments.
- Ignition Certification (Core, Gold, or Specialized)
- Experience with enterprise or multi-site Ignition architectures
- Familiarity with SQL databases and historian optimization
- Experience with data center monitoring platforms or DCIM integration
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices for OT/SCADA environments
- Experience working alongside IT/network teams in segmented networks
Salary : $100,000 - $140,000
