We are seeking an experienced construction professional to step into a hands-on leadership role supporting underground utility projects in the Dallas area. This position functions as a true working foreman-someone who leads from the front, wears multiple hats, and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. Title matters less than capability, reliability, and long-term fit.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field daily, running equipment, directing crews, and taking ownership of work quality and safety. The focus is on hiring for longevity, not short-term project needs.
Responsibilities
- Manage underground utility jobs, spending the majority of time in the field
- Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, as part of daily operations
- Lead and manage a small field crew (typically 4-5 people)
- Perform and oversee excavation work up to 30 feet deep
- Set trench boxes and shoring systems safely and correctly
- Handle grading and excavation layout
- Use proper rigging techniques for lifts and installs
- Maintain a strong safety-first jobsite culture
- Focus primarily on one project while helping initiate additional work as needed
- Coordinate daily work activities and keep projects moving efficiently
Preffered Skillset
- Extensive experience in underground utility work
- Proven ability to safely run excavators and other heavy equipment
- Hands-on experience setting shoring and trench boxes
- Comfortable digging and working at depths of 30 feet or more
- Strong understanding of grading and excavation best practices
- Confident leading a 5-person crew in the field
- Able to multitask and balance field execution with basic coordination responsibilities
- Takes pride in quality work, safety, and mentoring crew members
