The Transmission Line & Substation Project Manager is responsible for managing electric transmission and substation projects from engineering through construction and closeout. Projects may include new builds, upgrades, rebuilds, and optimization efforts across overhead and underground transmission lines and substations.
This role leads project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The Project Manager coordinates closely with utility clients, engineers, permitting and environmental teams, field crews, and contractors.
Key responsibilities include managing contracts and procurement, overseeing safety and quality programs, resolving constructability and design issues, coordinating outages and cutovers, and mitigating project risks. A strong field presence and ability to support construction activities are essential.
The role may also include managing or mentoring project managers, engineers, and construction staff, with a focus on team development, performance, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications typically include:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; 7 years of experience in transmission line and/or substation project management; strong knowledge of utility standards and safety practices; experience managing budgets, schedules, and contractors; PMP preferred.
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
