Our client is a respected and growing heavy civil construction contractor delivering complex infrastructure projects across the Sacramento region. Their portfolio includes major public works and private developments, and they are known for their commitment to quality, safety, and execution excellence. They are currently seeking a skilled and driven Heavy Civil Estimator to join their team.
The Heavy Civil Estimator will play a critical role in the success of our client's organization by preparing accurate, competitive bids and helping secure new work. This individual will analyze project plans, specifications, and market conditions to develop complete cost estimates and winning proposals for a wide range of heavy civil construction projects.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to understand project scope and requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options during the estimating process
- Collaborate with project managers and field personnel to ensure estimates align with execution strategies
- Develop and submit competitive proposals and bid packages
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client presentations as needed
- Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, material costs, and labor trends in the Sacramento area
- 3 years of experience as an Estimator successfully bidding and winning heavy civil construction projects in the Sacramento area
- Demonstrated experience estimating projects such as:
- Heavy road and highway construction
- Asphalt and/or concrete paving and grading
- Bridge construction
- Excavation
- Underground utilities
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost drivers
- Proven track record of delivering accurate bids and securing awarded projects
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contracts
- Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Excel, or similar)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
Salary : $135,000 - $185,000
