Controls Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join their team and take a lead role in designing, programming, and developing engineered control drawings for advanced Building Automation Systems (BAS). This position requires strong technical expertise and a commitment to delivering quality, efficiency, and exceptional customer satisfaction.

• Design and develop BAS control sequences, engineered drawings, and schematics for new installations.
• Interpret project plans and specifications, creating operational sequences, wiring details, BOM, and submittals.
• Generate control-engineered drawings and wiring schematics using AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.
• Build and manage BAS databases, including supervisor devices and field-level controllers.
• Develop and test field-level programs, supporting technicians during implementation and commissioning.
• Maintain standardized programming templates and stay updated on BAS software tools.
• Collaborate with project managers and estimating teams to ensure accurate material selection and project scope alignment.

• BS degree in engineering or engineering technology OR a two-year community college diploma with 10 years of BAS controls engineering and design experience.
• Educational background in electronics, computer programming, or mechanical technology.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio.
• Valid driver's license.
  
  

• Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment and system operations.
• AutoCAD 2D proficiency.
• Tridium AX and N4 design knowledge for product selection and layout.
• Distech Controls certification.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills with co-workers, engineers, and general contractors.
