Position Overview:
The Design Engineering Manager will lead a team of design engineers responsible for developing and delivering innovative building automation solutions for commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. This role ensures that all designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and project timelines while driving technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor a team of design engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Allocate resources effectively across multiple projects and ensure timely delivery of design packages.
- Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
Design & Technical Oversight
- Oversee the creation of detailed engineering designs for HVAC controls, lighting systems, energy management, and integrated building automation systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards (ASHRAE, ISO, EN), and client specifications.
- Review and approve design documents, schematics, and control strategies.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to define scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Provide technical support during project execution, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Manage design changes and ensure proper documentation.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Drive adoption of new technologies, tools, and best practices in building automation design.
- Implement processes to improve design efficiency and reduce errors.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging standards, and sustainability initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in building automation or controls engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, PLCs, BACnet, Modbus, and other building automation protocols.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and engineering design software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with data center controls or mission-critical environments.
- Familiarity with IoT integration and smart building technologies.
- Project management certification (PMP or equivalent) is a plus.
Salary : $120,000 - $170,000
