CEI Lead/Resident Engineer | Long Island, NY

The CEI Lead oversees construction engineering and inspection services for transportation and infrastructure projects, serving as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with agency standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead CEI teams on highway, bridge, transit, and infrastructure projects.
• Oversee daily construction inspection activities and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
• Manage Resident Engineers, inspectors, and subconsultants.
• Serve as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, and design teams.
• Review change orders, pay estimates, schedules, RFIs, and construction documentation.
• Monitor project budgets, staffing, schedules, and overall performance.
• Ensure quality control and adherence to DOT and agency requirements.
• Support client development, proposals, and CEI practice growth initiatives.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• PE license preferred.
• 10 years of CEI, construction management, or transportation infrastructure experience.
• Experience leading construction inspection teams on DOT, bridge, roadway, or transit projects.
• Strong understanding of contract administration, quality assurance, and construction practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills.
• Familiarity with state and local transportation agencies such as NYSDOT, NJDOT, PennDOT, or similar agencies preferred.
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Resident Engineer, Senior Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or CEI Program Manager background.
• Experience managing multiple projects and staff simultaneously.
• Existing relationships with public-sector transportation clients.
