Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Yacht Accountant to manage full-cycle accounting for assigned vessels using QuickBooks Desktop. This is a 100% on-site role in Fort Lauderdale. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work directly with captains, crew, and vendors to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-cycle accounting for assigned yachts in QuickBooks Desktop
- Process high-volume accounts payable (invoice review, coding, and payments)
- Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies and billing issues
- Work directly with captains and crew to support financial operations
- Prepare monthly financial reports to clients
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Perform charter APA reconciliations
- Perform petty cash reconciliations and monitor onboard cash controls
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with internal procedures
- Assist with payroll-related entries and expense tracking
- Support audits and special accounting projects
Month-End Requirements
- Participate in monthly close process
- Extended hours required during month-end
- Occasional weekend work required to meet deadlines
- Comp time provided for additional hours worked
Qualifications
- 2 years of accounting experience (yacht accounting preferred)
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop (required)
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and/or high-volume AP preferred
- Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
- Strong communication skills with clients and vendors
- Detail-oriented and able to problem-solve independently
