Summary:

This position shall be responsible for supporting product design, documentation control, manufacturing tooling, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Mechanical Engineer will develop and maintain engineering drawings, CAD models, fixtures, and tooling while ensuring compliance with company standards and manufacturing requirements. The goal of this position is to improve design quality, manufacturability, and operational efficiency through strong engineering practices, attention to detail, and effective configuration management.

Essential Job Functions:

Mechanical Design & Documentation

  • Create, revise, and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks
  • Ensure engineering documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with company standards
  • Perform drawing updates, engineering change implementation, and document revision control activities
  • Develop and maintain drawing configuration management practices and standards

Manufacturing Support & Tooling

  • Design and fabricate fixtures, tooling, and work-holding solutions to support manufacturing operations
  • Collaborate with production personnel to improve manufacturability, efficiency, and product quality
  • Support manufacturing troubleshooting and resolve design-related production issues
  • Develop designs optimized for additive manufacturing and production scalability

Engineering Analysis

  • Perform tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure proper fit, form, and function of assemblies
  • Review designs for manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with engineering requirements
  • Validate design changes through testing, analysis, and evaluation

Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, drawing standards, and manufacturing processes
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives that reduce cost, improve quality, and increase productivity
  • Develop standardized engineering practices to support long-term organizational growth

Technical Review & Quality

  • Conduct detailed reviews of engineering drawings, models, and technical documentation
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of engineering work prior to release
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members when appropriate
  • Serve as a technical resource for reviewing and validating the work of others

Job Skills and Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required

Experience

  • 5 years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience using SolidWorks for part, assembly, and drawing creation
  • Experience with engineering change management and document control processes
  • Experience supporting production environments through tooling, fixtures, and process improvements
  • Experience with additive manufacturing technologies and design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) required

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawing standards, and configuration management
  • Experience performing tolerance stack-up analyses
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, assembly, and additive manufacturing
  • Familiarity with CNC machining, mills, lathes, programming, and process development is highly desirable
  • Experience creating manufacturing work instructions and technical documentation is preferred

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for engineering deliverables

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform inspections within a manufacturing facility

Compensation Range:

$90,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
