What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Long Term Foster Care position at LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES OF THE NAT?
The Director is responsible for managing the Unaccompanied Children’s Long Term Foster Care Program
(LTFC) in Greenbelt, MD. As an agency representative, the Director provides program education to various
community organizations for the purpose of foster parent recruitment and services for minors; provides clinical,
administrative and staff development support to staff and monitor the quality of service delivery in compliance
with contractual and jurisdictional regulations for foster care programs.
Essential Functions
• Maintain current knowledge of the U.S. Resettlement Program and Office of Refugee Resettlement
Unaccompanied Children’s Program;
• Maintain current knowledge of all Refugee and Immigrant Services;
• Develop and maintain written guidelines governing program operations
• Interface with the MD Office of Licensing and Monitoring and the Office of Refugee Resettlement;
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the program;
• Provide leadership, mentorship, support and supervision to all program staff, interns and volunteers to
ensure the provision of quality services;
• Coordinate and/or direct program services within contract guidelines;
• Assist in the development of program budgets and proposals, and monitor program spending;
• Collaborate with the finance department; authorize payments for client services and monthly invoicing
and reconciliation process;
• Coordinate completion, approval and submission of program reports;
• Develop and maintain relationships with individuals, businesses, governmental and nongovernmental
organizations to coordinate the provision of seamless service to minors in care;
• As necessary, convene meetings with voluntary agencies, and other area service providers;
• Promote awareness of the LTFC program to the community at large;
• Attend all conferences, seminars, and meetings related to program activities;
• Participate in agency and staff meetings and in-service trainings;
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, the Council on Accreditation and jurisdictional
standards;
• Develop an ongoing communication and support and training plan for staff and foster parents that
ensures children and families are receiving the best possible care;
• Participate in public speaking engagements related to the LTFC program and services provided by the
organization;
• Participate in outreach activities for the purpose of promotion awareness of and advocacy of foster care
and marketing services;
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education
• LCSW Required
Experience
• 3 years experience supervising case management services to children and families
• One year experience as an administrator or supervisor of casework services
• Experience and knowledge in the Foster Care Services in Maryland
• Experience in program development and management
Other Requirements
• Pass a criminal history background screen, including state and local child protection agency registries
• Complete federal suitability clearance
• Valid driver’s license
• Clean driving record
• A personal vehicle or access to a vehicle is a plus; valid vehicle insurance
Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of the United States Resettlement and Unaccompanied Children’s Program, and Maryalnd
foster care laws and processes
• Ability to supervise a diverse staff and to operate and manage a culturally diverse workplace

Salary : $104,000
