Deputy Head Start Director for Palm Beach Head Start / Early Head Start
Located in West Palm Beach, FL
LSF is looking for a talented Deputy Head Start Director who wants to make an impact in the lives of children and families.
Purpose & Impact
The purpose of the Deputy Head Start Director who support the Program Head Start Director in efforts to ensure compliance across all service areas at each of LSF Head Start and Early Head Start Programs. Works collaboratively with the Head Start Director in providing leadership in planning, designing, implementing and evaluating program systems and in representing the agency in local, regional, state and national communities. Participates in the HS/EHS Quality Assurance efforts.
Essential Functions
- Support the Head Start Director as the assigned Early Childhood expert for Grantee and must be able to act on behalf of the Head Start Director in his/her absence.
- Assist with the Annual Self-Assessment, Program Monitoring and mandatory federal reporting to include the Program Information Report, Enrollment Reports and monthly required reports to the Grantee and Delegate Policy Council, Committees and Board of Directors.
- Provide support in the implementation and roll-out of LSF policy and procedures and management by objectives and the approval process.
- Seeks out and maintains collaborative relationships with community programs providing services to low-income families to ensure resources are available and accessible to Head Start families including recruitment of interns and administration of Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with participating universities (if applicable within the specific Program). Continuously monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; plans and implements adjustments as necessary.
- Assist Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) manager with the coordination of Head Start and State Pre-Kindergarten school readiness.
- Provide support in instances in which vacancies exist among early childhood management and classroom staff.
- Provide direct support in the aggregation of school readiness data and required assessments for all LSF Head Start and Early Head Start children.
- Supervise Centers and the assurance of staffing at all center locations. Provide CLASS evaluations and the aggregation of children assessments.
- Manages the curriculum implementation county-wide for the Grantee and is responsible for working with the Head Start and Quality Assurance Director toward providing required assessments for children and outcomes reporting.
- Responsible for the School Readiness Advisory board and the lead person for coordinating the Regional school readiness updates.
Competencies (Skills/Knowledge & Abilities)
Skills:
- Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail are required and the candidate must be able to meet designated deadlines.
- Must have knowledge of variety of computer software applications to include electronic children assessment tools, child tracking programs and presentation software.
- The individual must possess strong written and oral communication skills; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality; identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Required/Preferred Education and Experience:
Education:
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Public Administration, Business, Social Work or related field OR Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Public Administration, Business, Social Work or related field.
Experience:
If Master’s degree, at least five years of previous experience in management/administration, preferably in a Head Start environment. If Bachelor’s degree, at least seven years of previous experience in management/administration, preferably in a Head Start environment. Must have experience and/or certifications in pre-school classroom assessments, i.e., CLASS, VPK, etc. Bilingual preferred: English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area. Also required: Successful completion of a Level II background screening and drug screening prior to hiring.
