Please note that this position requires demonstrated fluency (written & spoken) in English and either Spanish, Russian or Ukranian
- Serve as a representative of the immigration program and agency within the community and relevant organizations.
- Counsel clients with their immigration needs and serve as their legal representative.
- Complete family-based immigration applications such as Adjustment of Status, Naturalization, and Family Reunification.
- Provide translation/interpretation in Dari and Pashto as appropriate.
- Maintain an ongoing, organized client caseload.
- Maintain accurate files and detailed case notes.
- Complete continuing education to maintain current knowledge of immigration policy and practice, and to maintain DOJ accreditation.
- Models, encourages direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitates the development of a positive staff support network.
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations he/she serves.
- 1 year of related experience, specifically with Immigration and the Department of Justice
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Accreditation by the Department of Justice Legal Access Programs is required upon start. Other credentials may be required depending on individual program or location requirements.
- Fluency in English, and one other language to include Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian, both spoken and written
- Intermediate mastery of business applications and productivity suites
- Demonstrates resilience, awareness and self-regulation in navigating challenges, conflict and obstacles/barriers.
- Thrives in a diverse and multicultural environment; works with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies to enhance end-user experiences throughout the service lifecycle.
- Demonstrates exceptional commitment to serving and advocating for diverse and marginalized populations
- Successfully completes tasks in a moderately noisy environment
- Interact with others and performs tasks in-person and through the use of technology, with moderate periods of stationary activity and moderate periods of increased physical activity
- Moves equipment/materials weighing up to 20 pounds
- Travels between worksites occasionally
- Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, client home/community settings, outdoor settings in varying weather conditions, and faith-based settings such as churches
- Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program
