What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Lutheran Church Missouri Synod - Eastern District?
The position reports to the District President and to the Board of Directors.
Principal functions include financial statement preparation / review, making deposits, paying expenses, account reconciliations, month end journal entries, preparing / presenting the annual budget, coordinating the annual audit, monitoring cash position and short-term investments, and payroll / benefits administration. Other tasks are noted in the position job description which will be shared during the interview process.
Qualifications for this position are:
· Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; two / four-year college accounting or business school degree preferred; experience in not-for-profit accounting is helpful but not required.
· Minimum of two years’ experience in an accounting / bookkeeping role.
· Ability to exercise discretion and judgement in confidential matters.
· A self-starter with the ability to work enthusiastically in a fast-paced environment.
· Good communication and technical skills (PC and Microsoft Office products)
